KVM specialists have united forces as IHSE GmbH, a Brockhaus Technologies AG group company, acquired a majority stake in kvm-tec Holding GmbH. Founded in 2006, kvm-tec is renowned for its development and distribution of flexible, high-security KVM-over-IP solutions (KVMoIP) designed to extend and switch computer signals efficiently. This strategic acquisition enables the transmission of high-performance, low-latency signals through standard IP protocols within existing networks. With this partnership, IHSE, a leading global technology provider for KVM solutions (keyboard, video, mouse) via proprietary network protocols, is poised to diversify its product portfolio and expand its customer base.

KVM stands for Keyboard, Video, and Mouse – the common input and output devices in a workstation: keyboard, monitor, and mouse. Our KVM-over-IP products extend the distance between user devices (KVM) and remote computers. With KVM switches and our switching manager, users can access multiple source devices without delay, helping optimize workflows and make the working environment more comfortable and efficient. Our technology enables the switching, sharing, extending, and conversion of computer signals, including video, USB, and audio. This versatility makes it suitable for various fields and markets. Depending on the application, distances are bridged via Cat X, fiber optic, or mixed cabling.
KVM products are used wherever computers and control elements – such as keyboards or mice – are installed and used at different locations. This is common in areas like film and TV, industry, air traffic control, control rooms and command centers, government institutions, culture and entertainment, maritime, educational institutions, as well as utilities and transportation. The possibilities for using KVM products are virtually limitless.
Depending on the needs and application, distances are bridged via Cat X or fiber optic. These distances range up to 100 m (Cat X) or 500 m (fiber optic). With special SFP modules, fiber optic connections can be extended to up to 20 km.
Yes, all kvm-tec products operate “over IP.” KVM-over-IP means that the KVM extenders use the standardized IP protocol (UDP) for signal transmission, allowing them to work with standard network switches.
Datasheets, quick installations, manuals, and various certificates can be found on the IHSE website (www.ihse.com). You can access the required documents either through the respective product page (at the bottom) or through the download section.
